Our Record for Last Sunday, October 21, 2007

Attendance  42                                              Contribution $1,153.00

Please remember the following in your prayers.

Preston Reynolds, Ken’s father, continues to improve at little at a time.

Cordell Kiefer was to have had his feeding tube removed, but he is experiencing some problems with his asthma, and so the surgery has been put off indefinitely.

Alice Wallace is experiencing a new and persistent pain in her leg that makes it very difficult to get around at all.

Gail Evans is doing very well after her liver transplant, but still has to be sure to take care of herself.  As always, Gail never complains.

Roy Harris now surgery scheduled for November 28th.  Keep Roy in your prayers.

Derlina Kinder has been having problems with carpel tunnel syndrome for several weeks.  She was doing some better last SundayMy apology to Derlina for failing to put her on our list of those needing our prayers.

Joy Brawner continues to improve after breaking her knee cap.  She is able to get around pretty well with the aid of her walker.

As you know, we have a long list of those we need to continue to remember because of various long term problems:

Albert and Edith Anthony, Annie Burgess and Virginia Stephens are all experiencing difficulty getting around, but we are thankful that all of our older citizens are still able to make it to some of the services; some are able to be here more than others.

Keep all of these in your prayers

Don’t forget to pray for the Church.  Please pray for me as your preacher, Dale and me as your elders, Glenn and Roy as your deacons, and Ken and Elisha Reynolds as our teachers.

Church Growth Magazine Available!

The latest issue of Church Growth magazine is available.  If you would like a copy, they are available on a first come first serve basis.  Not that it is something we can do, but there is an interesting story of how a congregation in Kansas began Know Your Bible television program.  If I understand it, the program consists of questions that people call in, and then these questions are answered later in a telecast.  They get visitors almost weekly because of the program.  In 1986, their attendance was 300.  Now it is 750.

Plans for next month
I taught the brethren the importance of personal evangelism and they promised that we shall arrange a day once a week to do the exercise. We shall be having prayer meeting next Wednesday. The Ekombeone leadership meeting shall be in November.
Congregational involvement
On Wednesday next week; after Bible classes we shall have a tarry night in one of the sister's house for the difficulties she is facing.
General comments
As stated in the plans for next month. Only put it in prayer that the devil should make the brethren lforget the good plan to do the personal evangelism. God bless you.

The Terror of Being Lost!

Introduction

(Luke 19:9-10 NKJV)

Body

I.        Does the Bible say about being lost?

  1. But Jesus described being lost in different ways.

1.      Jesus used the illustration of the lost sheep.

(Luke 15:3-7 NKJV)

2.      He referred to the lost as being cast out into outer darkness.  (Mat 22:11-13 NKJV)

3.      Jesus referred to be lost as to be cast into hell.

(Mark 9:43-44 NKJV)

4.      How bad is it to be lost?  It’s better not to have been born.  (Mat 26:24 NKJV)

  1. Isaiah spoke of the sheep going astray. (Isa 53:6 NKJV)

  2. Paul spoke of the terror of the Lord. (2 Cor 5:10-11)

  3. Peter preached a sermon that cut to the heart.

(Acts 2:36-38 NKJV)

II.     We have the gospel—the good news!

  1. Peter’s sermon was the first gospel sermon of the Christian age.

  2. Paul spoke of the power of the gospel. (Rom 1:16)

  3. The gospel is to be obeyed. (2 Th 1:7-9 NKJV)

  4. The gospel is defined.  (1 Cor 15:1-4 NKJV)

III.   How do we obey the gospel?

  1. We are buried with Him in baptism. (Rom 6:1-4 NKJV)

  2. Jesus explained baptism as the new birth. (John 3:3-8)

Conclusion

Prayer Meeting Wednesday Evening

This Wednesday evening is our, now quarterly prayer meeting.  I want to encourage everyone to be present.  It is also Halloween.  As I mentioned Wednesday evening, I have an article on my website which is mainly links to two articles on the web by some who have done a lot of study and research on this day.
