Our Record for Last Sunday, November 4, 2007
Attendance 45 Contribution $1,065.00
Preston Reynolds, Ken’s father, continues to improve.
Cordell Kiefer has been cleared to have his feeding tube removed. They are now just waiting for them to schedule the time to actually do it.
Alice Wallace has gained some mobility and has been able to get around better this past week.
Gail Evans is doing very well after her liver transplant. It’s great to have Jim and Gail back in attendance on Wednesday evenings now.
Roy Harris now surgery scheduled for November 28th. (I understand Roy delayed his surgery so he could go deer hunting.) Keep Roy in your prayers.
Derlina Kinder has been having problems with carpel tunnel syndrome for several weeks. She seems to be doing much better.
Joy Brawner is able to walk without her brace and with a cane or walker, so she seems to be doing much better.
Sharon James is a young mother who is a good friend of Tim and Marty. She recently suffered a stroke from a blood clot behind her eye which has affected her vision. Instead of getting better, she was worse at last report. To make bad matters worse for this family, their daughter, Morgan, is now experiencing seizures. Sharon’s husband is a sports photographer, and it is a very busy time for him, so life is very difficult for Sharon and Glenn right now. Their daughter Morgan refers to our grandsons as her bothers, so obviously, they are close friends of Tim and Marty. We would appreciate your prayers for this family.
As you know, we have a long list of those we need to continue to remember because of various long term problems:
Albert and Edith Anthony, Annie Burgess and Virginia Stephens are all experiencing difficulty getting around, but we are thankful that all of our older citizens are still able to make it to some of the services; some are able to be here more than others.
Keep all of these in your prayers.
Don’t forget to pray for the Church. Please pray for me as your preacher, Dale and me as your elders, Glenn and Roy as your deacons, and Ken and Elisha Reynolds as our teachers.
The Jacksonville Church of Christ that has made the House to House newsletter available is now putting together a Great Smoky Mountain Marriage Retreat. It will be on February 14th and 15th. There is no charge for the program. The only cost is for your room and meals, and they have made arrangements for discounted rooms of $42 for the weekdays, and $67 for Friday. I will post a poster with more details on our bulletin board. Oh, yes, it’s Allen Webster who is the retreat director, the one who does our House to House newsletter!
Dear Brethren:
Thank you for your contribution of $75.00 in support of EEM. Any contributions made for special appeals have been posted to the individual project accounts. A receipt is enclosed for your records.
Eastern European Mission and the Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas, co-hosted a special mission meeting called "Summit II", September 7-9. It had been over 17 years since "Summit I" was held at Prestoncrest shortly after the fall of communism. The first meeting served to help formulate a strategy for evangelizing the nations of Eastern Europe and Russia after 70 years of an atheistic regime. Summit II was designed to evaluate the missionary efforts of our brethren in the years subsequent to the fall of the wall and to promote keeping the dream alive in the years to come. Keynote speakers included foreign evangelists such as, Mladen Jovanovic from Zagreb, Croatia, Dino Roussos from Athens, Greece, Igor Egirev from St. Petersburg, Russia, and Alexander Propopchuk from Donetsk, Ukraine. Each of these men represented churches in their regions which have experienced tremendous growth. It was an exciting three days for missionaries, representatives from stateside congregations supporting missions in the former Soviet Union and evangelistic organizations involved in spreading the Gospel to that part of the world.
Everyone involved with Eastern European Mission wishes to thank you for your continued support of this ministry. God is using our joint efforts to share His message of hope with hungry souls throughout Eastern Europe and Russia.
In Him,
Frank Farr

Honoring Those Who Served Our Country
I. What does the Bible say about honoring others?
1. Our country was founded on Christian principles by God fearing men.
2. Our God is a caring God.
1. Sixteen times in the Old Testament, we find the expression, “good land.”
2. In these verses, the message is clear: A good land is for good people.
II. A good land was to be given to a good people.
(Num 14:6-9 NKJV)
1. Our men in our armed forces are very important, and we honor them for what they have done.
2. May we never forget God who gives us the victory.
(Psa 127:1 NKJV) .
III. When God’s people turn away, they lose the blessings of God.
(Dan 9:11-13 NKJV)
IV. Our country. What can we say?
1. They see us as a Christian nation which makes them hate us.
2. They also have a code of modesty for their women which may be a mixed idea, but they detest the immodesty of many of our women.
3. The extremists look upon this war as a “Holy War.”
4. You must understand that the radical Muslims want this world to be a Muslim world.
